OK. So, hopefully, this will be the first BLOG of many that I hope will automatically go on my FB page (and my website). Watch this space to see if it works! I want to keep you updated with what I am getting up to in my world of taking photos and recording memories.

But first, who am I and what have I done? Well over the years I have been into, amongst other things, astronomy, cooking, trains (and planes) and remembering my life, the memories of my childhood and how it has produced “me”, my school years and my experiences to bring me to where I am now.

So, who am I? Well, I was born in the early 1960’s and grew up in Basingstoke, Hampshire. I had two sisters, and my parents brought me up in the age of the 60’s and 70’s. I had a fantastic time at school (looking back at the time it was fantastic, but at the time school was something I had to go through!). However, my school years, I look back on with great happiness and they were what formulated me into who I became.

At school I was a typical mix of an academic and artistic pupil. I studied the flute to Grade 8 and enjoyed the science subjects. The artistic side and the science side would continue to adult life. However, when it came to manual exploits (woodwork and metal work etc.)…. well that is another story! I still cannot hang a curtain pole horizontally!

However, the thing I always hang on to is my memories and creating memories as I grow older.

I look back on my school years with happiness and always try to keep up with my former schoolfriends and what they are doing with themselves. The careers teacher was never very good at telling us what we could do with our studies, and what we couldn’t do.

I always wanted to do something with meteorology, but my life took a massive turn! I ended up in computing and then, when I realised, I wanted to give something back to society, I joined the police. I achieved so much in “the job” that I felt that I had “arrived” and it was what I had been put on this planet to do! To serve, to be with people in their darkest of times and to protect people in times of strife.

But the underlying ethos was to record my life somehow. I have loads of memories in my mind. Now my camera is here to do the recording.

I retired from “the job” in 2018 and did some HGV driving and Coach driving but in 2024, I took the decision to retire completely from “normal” employment and concentrate of creating memories, both for myself and for others.
